Story of our children
Right now the orphanage at Savong School houses 38 children and here are some of their stories - Savong interviewed them and wrote down (and translated) what they said. Not all these students are orphans - that is, some still have parents, but their stories reflect some of the issues that visitors to Cambodia do not always see - issues related very much to poverty. Sometimes a family who gratefully gives up their child for care here will change their mind—for example if members of the family are moving to homelands elsewhere in Cambodia. All but the very youngest are receiving a full education with school and after-school coaching—and should you visit, you’ll find a number have really remarkable English fluency. Her mother is a farmer who faces real hardship. Her mother’s name is Tem Reourm,39 years old and lives in Thbang Kert Village,Thbang Commune, Banteay Srey district, Siem Reap Province. Bron’s father separated from her mother some years ago.
She has one brother and one sister also living at the SOC.
Her name is Chay Bron,10 years old and she is three grades her mother’s name is Tem Reourm,39 years old and she has one younger brother, Chay Shun,6 and one older sister,15. thery live in Thbang Kert Village,Thbang Commune,Banteay Srey District,Siem Reap.Why she lives in Savong orphan Centre because her mum can’t support me and send her to school. sthey are so happy to live here and can go to school eaisly.her health is good.she like reading books and drawing pictures.When she lived with her parents,she liked playing on the land and cleaning around her home but unlucky that her parents separated each other because of violence in the family. she feels very sad for her family. Before she lived in AKoDo orphanage and the director forced her to dance and asked people for the money and when she got it, his wife took it from her and she never eaten enough and studied 2 times a month because he always forced her to dance for money.Now she is happy very much who can live in Saong Orphan Centre.
She has two brothers . Mother’s name is Cam Kusorl she is 29 years old and facing hardship. She used to pick fruit for Thai people, and based in PoiPet Province nearby Thailand . (They live in Bro Chea Therm Village,Poi pet Commune, Ochrov District and Bayteay Mean Chay Province.) Sreyam’s father is no longer alive.
Her name is Veourn Sreyam and She is 8 years old. she is one grade and she studies in Bakong grade school close to S.O.C. why she lives here because her mum can’t earn money to feed her. Thai people do not allow her mother working in Thailand any more. When she lived in PoiPet it was always hard for her family and her olded brother could not go to school easily.
At the moment she is happy very much because she can live here with Savong and can go to school easily and eat daily.She would like to be a teacher when she grows up.
Her health is good. She likes drawing and talking with friends. She was sponsored by Edith,Hong Kong

Her name is Chay Gruoch, 15 years old., she is living in Savong Orphan Centre. Why she lives here because their parents separated and her Mum can’t afford to give her food and send her to school.
When she lived at home she must work with her mum. she washed dishes, clothes, and harvested rice in the fields and carried the water. she also fished , dug crabs and caught fishes. But now she is very happy because she and her brother and sister can go to school and have enough food daily. she is five grades, her sister is four grades and brother is one grade.

She was sponsored by Galina and family.Her health is good – though her eyes have been a problem .
She comes here on 15th February 2009. and her birthday is 28th March 1995.
Her name is Kim San. When she lived her mother, she got working hard and never studied is always to work and work everyday and moreover her mother got very small income and she could not help her food and study enough and she lacked education very much but it is very lucky that she can live here with Savong and she can speak English very well . In the future she wants to be an English teacher and Savong said that when she finished studying , he will seek a job for her and she can not wait this.
She has a mother and one older sister, her mother is a farmer and the first they lived in Prei Veng Province afterward moved to PoiPet nearby Thai border because they did not have any jobs to do and her mother worked for Thai people to plant the fruits. she never been to school and she can not write her Khmer but afterward moved to Savong Orphan Centre and she is living here and can study Khmer and English. Now she can speak English very well. she is really glad that can speak it.
She likes listening and writing English. she is grade 7. She was sponsored by Low Siew Leng, Singapore and she comes here in 4th September 2008. Her birthday is 3rd of February 1994.
Her name is So Gey , 6 years old and she lives in Kompong Kadey district, Siem Reap Province and her mother is a famer and very poorest and never have enough food to eat.she is very glad which can live here and also study Khmer and English and enough food to eat monthly. she hopes that she can be an English teacher. she really thanks Savong who allowed her to live here and also allowed her mum to work here as well.
Her health is good. She likes Football and toys. She was by sponsored by Katie and her husband.
She is grade one and she comes in 4th September 2009 and her birthday is 13th of June 2005.
Her name is Duong Mido ,3 years old and sher lives in Groper Village,Balang Commune,Bakong District, Siem Reap Province. Her mum is a farmer and she sometimes works for someone and she is very miserable and she never eat enough and moreover when she were sick there is not a medical centre nearby her homeland. Last time her mum walked from home to Siem Reap with sickness and she nearly dies but she was lucky very much who met Savong’s uncle and he helped her mum better and paid her medicines and afterward he talked with Savong to help her and her brother and sisters. They are living here with Savong.
She donesn't have a dad and he died four years ago afterward she lived with her mum and she works for someone in the village. Her health is good. She comes in 20th November 2010. Her birthday is 1oth March 2007. and She and her family were sponsored by Lesley-Anne Houghton.
Her name is So Korng , 4 years old and She lives in Kompong Kadey district, Siem Reap Province.Her mother can not feed her easily and she and her brother and sister never have enough food to eat . She is very glad which can live here and have many friends and food to eat too.
She comes here in 10th September 2010 and her birthday is 5th September 2006. She likes playing.
Her name is Phann Rani ,6 years old and she lives in Svay Leu District her family is very miserable and they cut the trees to sell and her mum works in vegetable garden . she is very glad who can live in Savong Orphan Centre and she has not enough food and can study English too.
She likes running and playing with friends in the orphanage. Health is good .
She comes in 26th November 2010 and her birthday is 21st April 2004.
