Savong Orphan Centre
Our Mission
Thnol Trong Village is one of the poorest areas east of Siem Reap in Cambodia. Children within the community have been abandoned due to gambling, drinking and neglect. Our aim is to restore hope, dignity and promise to this once proud and prosperous community.
Opportunity through Education
'Opportunity through education' sums up our philosophy. S.O.C’s founder, Savong is passionate about providing free education to the residents of Thnol Trong village.
Background
The Savong Orphanage Centre was opened in order to support the Thnoi Trong village children, who have suffered the plight of abandonment, desperation, disease and starvation. The most prevalent illnesses within the village are: severe malnutrition, Hepatitis, Typhoid, Tuberculosis and Dengue Fever.
Many children survive on minimal resources such as rice and water. In addition, many young girls are sent away by their families to the town of Siem Reap in the hope of finding a job with adequate income to support themselves and their families. Unfortunately many fall victim to the sex trade in night clubs.
Without our assistance and your donations/volunteering, these children would have a very bleak future.
Accreditation
Savong Orphanage Centre is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of Cambodian Government. Education qualifications issued by SOC are accepted throughout Cambodia as a formal accreditation.
